The Embroiderers Association of Canada is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and so is the Winnipeg Embroiderers Guild by hosting a national stitching event. The event will be held from June 6th to 11th at the Victoria Inn and Conference Center. The event will include seminars, local, national, and international instructors, public events, and a market night.

Embroidery is more than just a hobby—it is an art form that has been appreciated for centuries. The Embroiders Association of Canada (EAC) and the Winnipeg Embroiders Guild are proud to celebrate their 50th anniversary with a week-long national stitching event from June 6 to June 11 at the Victoria Inn and Conference Center in Winnipeg.

Lorraine Iverach, a member of the EAC, explained that embroidery is the art of creating designs using thread on fabric instead of oil on canvas. The EAC has over 40 guilds across Canada that aim to promote the appreciation and education of embroidery. This national stitching event will allow attendees to learn a range of skills and techniques from international, national, and local embroidery instructors.

The week-long seminar, titled “A Stitch Goes On,” features a variety of classes for all skill levels. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced stitcher, there is something for everyone. Each class is taught by an experienced instructor who is passionate about the art of embroidery. Some of the classes include:

– Bead Embroidery: This class teaches attendees how to incorporate beads into their embroidery projects.

– Blackwork: This class focuses on creating intricate geometric designs in black thread.

– Silk Ribbon Embroidery: Attendees will learn how to create beautiful ribbon flowers.

In addition to the classes, the seminar will feature public events that are free to attend. One of the highlights of the event is the member show, which will feature over 200 embroidery pieces on display. The public will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite pieces. There will also be two boutiques offering stitching-related items, as well as a market night with various merchandise and raffle baskets.

If you are interested in attending the event, all of the public events are free. The seminar will be held at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Conference Center on Wellington Avenue in Winnipeg. The member show will be open from June 7 to June 10, with bouts and market night open on select days during the seminar.

The Winnipeg Embroiders Guild meets the first Thursday of every month from September to June and is open to anyone interested in joining. The guild is a great place to learn new skills, share your passion for embroidery, and meet like-minded individuals.
